Gigi Chen-Kuo

2022 Outstanding Leader Award Finalist

Gigi Chen-Kuo is the Chief Operating Officer of TransLink. Gigi has dedicated her 28-year career at the region’s transportation authority to working for the public interest, advancing diversity and inclusion, and making a positive difference in the lives of others. In 2021, Gigi became the first person of Asian heritage to lead TransLink as she took on the role of Interim CEO in the immediate aftermath of a major cyberattack and in the midst of the pandemic during which TransLink had to continue safely providing transit services to essential workers. Gigi prioritized connection with employees through information sessions and communications and tackling sensitive issues such as racially motivated violence, and the importance of mental health for employees and customers. She serves on the Boards of Consumer Protection BC and Commissionaires BC, and is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee, Centre for Business Law, University of British Columbia. Gigi has served as a Board member for the Boys and Girls Club of South Coast BC and on the Nominating and Sponsorship Committees for the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. In 2022, Gigi was nominated for a YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the Business & the Professions category.
