Finalist: 2019 WIN Emerging Leader Award

Heather is a Senior Project Manager and Manager of the Transportation Planning Department at WSP, leading a diverse team of 45 engineering and planning professionals delivering innovative and significant transportation projects.

Heather’s passion and expertise lies at the intersection of engineering and planning—working with communities to create innovative transportation solutions from traffic calming to complete streets to route planning transitways, freeways and high-speed rail.

Heather’s leadership in engineering began early with the Dalhousie University Student Society, CSCE and as winner of the NS Road Builders Bursary. Followed by progressive work experience with Buckland & Taylor, MTO Engineering Development Program, and WSP. In recent years, Heather established the WSP Young Professionals Oakville Chapter, which is now expanding nationally. She has also served on the WTS Toronto Mentoring and Membership Committees.

Heather is proud of her projects delivering technically complex and context sensitive engineering solutions and leading her department to success with high staff retention, exceeding revenue forecasts and new high-profile projects.

Heather spends her summers on the Nova Scotia South Shore with her husband and growing family. She is grateful to have been able to care for her father through early on-set Alzheimer’s and continues to support the Alzheimer’s Society.
